A huge shout out to Lara from MIP who stepped way above her job requirement to ensure that we had a fabulous time! She even tracked down and returned my lost mobile to me after the event! Legend!! Our first MIP trip away and it well and truely exceeded our expectations. Fantastic artists up close and personal playing all the music we grew up with – all on a getaway island. Doesn’t get much better than that!
Epic week away
Have just arrived home from our Epic week away at Daydream Island – OMG you guys put on such a sensational event!! Thank you all so much. Your team, the Daydream staff, and each and everyone of the performers went above and beyond to create the most amazing atmosphere that just that just did not ease up the entire week.
Having grown up in the Snowy Mountains in Cooma and now living only 1.5 hours away in Tathra on the Far South Coast, we didn’t really consider the Stranded in the Snowys event when you released it.
However whilst sitting at Hamilton Island airport waiting for our flight, reflecting on the past week, we decided we really can’t miss it! I mean what a great opportunity to do this all again in 6 months time.
Now instead of feeling sad this holiday event is over we are excited to look forward to the next one 😁
Bravo
We had an amazing time at MIP at Daydream Island. The resort staff and MIP team made sure we were well looked after but the jewel in the crown were the performances by music superstars. We got to see them up close and personal and their enjoyment was evident just as much as ours! Bravo everyone involved it was an unforgettable experience.

Jimmy Barnes, Kate Ceberano, The Black Sorrows, Ian Moss, Mahalia Barnes and The Soul Mates are absolute legends of Australian popular music. The combination of 14 Australian Top 40 albums for Cold Chisel and 13 charting solo albums, including nine No. 1s, gives Barnes the highest number of hit albums of any Australian artist.
Jimmy Barnes is a Scottish-Australian rock singer and songwriter. His career both as a solo performer and as the lead vocalist with the rock band Cold Chisel has made him one of the most popular and best-selling Australian music artists of all time.
James Dixon Barnes of Glasgow via Adelaide was just 16 when he joined the band Cold Chisel in 1973. Raised on tough soul music and gutsy rock, Jimmy bought his monumental passion and a versatile vocal style to this five-piece band who would eventually become the most powerful live act in the heyday of Australian pub rock.
In 1984 Jimmy went solo, his debut album Bodyswerve topping the charts, as did his 1986 album, For the Working Class Man. The #1 hits kept coming through the late 1980’s and early 1990’s with Freight Train Heart, the live set Barnestorming, Two Fires, Flesh and Wood, and of course Soul Deep – an album of R&B classics that sold almost a million copies.
In 2017 Barnes was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the performing arts as a musician, singer and songwriter, and through support for not-for-profit organisations, particularly to children with a disability.
Throughout his career, Barnes has won five Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Awards, including his induction into their Hall of Fame in 2005.
Jimmy’s music has been our national soundtrack for forty years and his iconic status in the history of Australian rock’n’roll is reflected in this induction. Lots of things have changed over his decades in the public eye, but the one constant is his powerful connection with live audiences across more than 10,000 gigs. Night after night. Year after year.
