John Butler is one of Australia’s premier alternative songwriters and storytellers, with accolades spanning #1 charting albums, platinum records and ARIA Awards across an illustrious career as one of the country’s most successful independent musicians.

His rich catalogue of iconic songs spans more than a quarter of a century and includes fan favourites such as Zebra, Better Than, Ocean and more.

Butler’s music continues to travel the globe, with performances on some of the world’s most iconic stages, venues and festivals, including Fuji Rock, Glastonbury, Coachella and Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

In 2018, Butler’s album HOME debuted at #1 on the ARIA Charts, exploring new sonic territory, expanded instrumentation and experimentation while still accentuating his core roots sound.

After a hiatus from the recording studio, John released two very different albums in 2024. Running River is an ambient album that takes the listener on a journey of deep relaxation, meditation and incredible musicianship, while Still Searching is an instrumental album harking back to the music he played solo at the beginning of his career, busking on the streets of Fremantle, Western Australia.

In 2025, John released PRISM, a beats-driven, lyric-based album that brought together groove-laden songs, powerful musicianship and the openhearted storytelling that has defined so much of his career.

Exclusive Surfing, Perfect Waves

Perfect Wave, the world’s largest surf tour operator, run the surf program at Kandooma and boast experienced resident surf guides and surf instructors. Surfing is exclusive and limited to a maximum 50 surfers, so you must pre-register for the surf program. The surf breaks around Kandooma have something for everyone, from beginners that want to move to an intermediate level to experienced surfers wanting fast barrels and rippable walls.
