Hoodoo Gurus

Hoodoo Gurus occupy a singular place in Australian and international rock’n’roll history.

Formed in Sydney in 1981 by members of seminal Australian punk bands The Victims and Fun Things, Hoodoo Gurus fused garage-rock grit with pop smarts, sharp songwriting and an unrepentant love of classic rock’n’roll.

Drawing on the sounds of the ’60s and ’70s while remaining unmistakably their own, the Gurus helped lead the international alternative, garage-rock and power-pop movement of the mid-1980s. They quickly found success at home and abroad, becoming heroes of the pre-grunge era and forging close ties with contemporaries including The Bangles, Redd Kross and The Fleshtones.

Their catalogue is packed with unmistakable Australian rock classics, including “What’s My Scene”, “Like Wow – Wipeout!”, “Bittersweet”, “Come Anytime”, “Miss Freelove ’69”, “1000 Miles Away” and “My Girl”.

Their debut album, Stoneage Romeos, topped the US College and Alternative chart, while subsequent albums including Mars Needs Guitars!, Blow Your Cool and Magnum Cum Louder reached the Billboard 200 and further established the band internationally.

Across more than four decades, Hoodoo Gurus have amassed 10 ARIA Top 20 albums, nine ARIA Top 40 singles and multiple platinum certifications while remaining one of Australia’s most formidable live bands.

Their influence can be heard across generations of Australian artists, from You Am I and Spiderbait through to Violent Soho, while international musicians including Steve Van Zandt, Courtney Love and Manic Street Preachers have publicly acknowledged the band’s impact.

Inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2007, Hoodoo Gurus remain revered elder statesmen of Australian rock. Their enduring reputation is reflected in sold-out tours around the world, a devoted international fan base and a catalogue that remains a staple of Australian radio.

You Am I

You Am I are without doubt one of Australia’s all-time essential rock’n’roll bands.

Across one of the longest and most successful recording careers in Australian music, You Am I have become one of the country’s most respected and loved live bands.

Featuring guitarist and vocalist Tim Rogers, Russell Hopkinson on drums, Andy Kent on bass and Davey Lane on guitar, You Am I have built a career defined by distinctive songwriting, exhilarating performances and an unmistakably Australian rock’n’roll sound.

Their landmark albums Hi Fi Way, Hourly, Daily and #4 Record debuted at number one on the ARIA charts in consecutive order.

The albums went on to receive multiple Platinum and Gold certifications, helping establish You Am I as one of the defining Australian bands of their generation.

The band have won 10 ARIA Awards, including Album of the Year, Best Group and Best Independent Release. Their enduring catalogue includes fan favourites such as “Berlin Chair”, “Purple Sneakers”, “Heavy Heart”, “Mr. Milk” and “Cathy’s Clown”.

You Am I have toured extensively throughout Australia and around the world, headlining shows across North America and Europe while earning a reputation as an exceptional live act.

Their sold-out theatre performances of Hourly, Daily and Hi Fi Way back-to-back became one of the most successful tours of the band’s career, selling more than 10,000 tickets in Sydney and Melbourne alone.

In 2017, You Am I released the live album All Onboard, recorded over 10 performances during their co-headline Australian tour with Hoodoo Gurus. The album captured the spirit, energy and spontaneity that have made You Am I such an enduring live favourite.

Mental As Anything

Australia’s legendary Mental As Anything made their historic comeback in 2026, their first in 25 years.

Original founding members Peter O’Doherty and Reg Mombassa reunited to lead an exciting new lineup performing once again under the iconic Mental As Anything banner.

Known for their infectious melodies, sharp wit and unmistakable sound, the ARIA Hall of Fame inductees have carved out an enduring place in Australia’s cultural and musical history.

With 25 Australian Top 40 hits, Mental As Anything created one of the country’s most recognisable catalogues of classic songs.

“The Nips Are Getting Bigger”, “If You Leave Me, Can I Come Too?”, “Too Many Times”, “Come Around”, “Berserk Warriors”, “Spirit Got Lost” and “You’re So Strong” remain beloved Australian favourites.

Their international smash “Live It Up” continues to receive regular airplay across the UK and Europe more than three decades after becoming a worldwide hit.

Since the release of their debut album, Get Wet, in 1979, Mental As Anything have achieved chart success in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Europe and Canada.

What began as a Sydney pub band formed by five art students grew into one of Australia’s most successful and beloved musical acts. Their influence also extends beyond music, with their film clips, posters, album covers and T-shirt designs becoming recognisable examples of Australian pop art.
