It was the early seventies when Ed Kuepper from legendary Brisbane based pre-punk pioneers The Saints wrote: ‘(I’m) Stranded.’

According to Ed, “The Saints left Queensland before the overbearing police state stuff started happening – I mean Bjelke-Petersen (later the Premier) was there, but he wasn’t as powerful – that happened more in the late seventies going into the early eighties.”

Fast forward to March 2020 when Covid first hit Australian shores, we all know and have lived through the difficult 20 months or so, of; lockdowns, border closures and many would say, almost police state style governing yet again.

Stranded in The Whitsundays isn’t about making any political statements or comparisons to the Bjelke-Peterson era.  We recognize that was a whole different ball game under a completely different style of conservative government to the current Annastacia Palaszczuk Labour State gov now.

Stranded in the Whitsundays pays homage to one of Australia’s all-time great songs…”(I’m) Stranded” in a tongue-in-cheek, juxtaposed kind of way, creating this celebratory week of Australian music featuring; three times, all-time, Aussie Hall of Famers.  All of which will be playing four nights in one of the most picturesque Australian settings: Daydream Island Resort, Whitsundays.

We were also a little creatively inspired by one of our favourite TV shows in the 70’s, Gilligan’s Island, when both choosing the venue and working with our fav artist, Ben Brown, who kindly produced the event poster art for us.

With great pleasure, we are stoked to announce the heavyweight line-up featuring an absolutely legendary triple bill of Australian Hall of Fame Icons!

Both Daryl and Richard will take to the stage solo on the first two nights (May 16th, May 17th ) and then enjoy these two iconic Aussie Hall of Famers perform back-to-back shows on the Wednesday night (May 18th). And last on stage on the Thursday night (May 19th), Jimmy Barnes wraps up a great week of Australian music with an extra special show.
