Getting to the Maldives
For most Music in Paradise guests travelling from Australia, Singapore is the most common transit hub on the way to the Maldives. Many itineraries from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth connect through Singapore before continuing on to Malé.
If you are transiting airside at Singapore Changi Airport and do not clear immigration, transit is generally straightforward. As long as your flights are correctly ticketed through to Malé and your travel documents are in order, you will usually simply follow the transfer signs to your next flight.
Flights may arrive and depart from Terminals 1, 2 or 3. If your connecting flight departs from another terminal, you can use the complimentary Skytrain within the transit area to transfer between terminals.

What to Expect on Your Journey
For most guests, the journey is simple and well supported:
- Fly from Australia to Singapore
- Transit through Singapore Changi Airport
- Arrive at Velana International Airport in Malé
- Proceed through immigration and baggage collection
- Meet the local airport representative
- Continue by resort transfer.
Your Music in Paradise consultant will advise you of your specific transfer arrangements prior to departure.
Arrival in the Maldives
Airport transfers and meet and greet are included in your Music in Paradise package.
On arrival at Velana International Airport in Malé, you will proceed through immigration, collect your luggage and then make your way into the arrivals area, where our local airport representative will assist you with your onward transfer to your booked hotel or resort.
If you have any questions on arrival, the airport representative will be your main point of contact and will help guide you through the next step of your journey.
Tourists visiting the Maldives are generally granted a 30-day visa on arrival, provided they meet the Maldives entry requirements. These include holding a valid passport, confirmed accommodation, return or onward travel documentation, and sufficient funds for the duration of the stay.
All travellers must complete the IMUGA Traveller Declaration within 96 hours prior to flight time before arriving in the Maldives. A declaration is also required before departing the Maldives.

Important Information About the Maldives
Import Restrictions: The Maldives is a strict Muslim country. Prohibited items include alcohol, pork products, pornography, firearms, spear guns and idols of worship. All baggage is screened on arrival. Alcohol is only available in licensed resorts and on selected tourist boats.
Plugs and Electricity: The standard voltage in the Maldives is 230V at 50Hz. Plug types can vary between properties, so we recommend bringing a universal travel adaptor.
Currency – The local currency is the Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR), however U.S. dollars are widely accepted throughout tourist areas in the Maldives. Major credit cards are also commonly accepted at resorts and hotels. We still recommend carrying a small amount of cash for incidental purchases.
Internet & Mobile – Most resorts and hotels offer Wi-Fi, although connection quality may vary depending on your location. If staying connected is important, speak with your consultant before departure about what to expect at your booked property.
Clothing & Local Customs – Resort islands are generally relaxed, however the Maldives is an Islamic country and modest dress is expected in public areas outside resort environments, including in Malé and on local islands.
Travel Insurance – Travel insurance is compulsory for all Music in Paradise Maldives events, and proof of your policy must be provided before departure. Please speak with your consultant if you would like a quote.
Passports & Visas – It is your responsibility to ensure that you hold valid passports, visas and any re-entry permits required by immigration and other government authorities. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenses incurred because your travel documents do not meet the relevant requirements will be your sole responsibility.
The Maldives currently requires travellers to hold a valid passport and to meet visa-on-arrival entry conditions. Current requirements should always be checked prior to departure. If you need information regarding visa and travel document requirements for your trip, please let us know. We can obtain this information from an external visa advisory service provider on your behalf. We do not warrant the accuracy of such information and accept no liability for any loss or damage suffered in reliance on it. We can also assist with visas on request; additional fees may apply.
