OK, so there is no snow in February, I hear you say, and it is indeed true that a solid percentage of us think the quintessential summer holiday should be spent surfing, swimming or chilling out at the beach. But let me tell you this… nature is the headline act on the bill at Stranded in the Snowys.

Jon Stevens, Ian Moss, Richard Clapton and Joe Camilleri are handsome frontmen sure, but the absolute natural beauty of the Snowy Mountains in summer, makes for a fun, exciting and highly affordable mid-week Music in Paradise destination with a difference. An exciting new MIP venue where the majestic peaks and cooling lakes offer an exclusive, intimate, summer musical experience with a refreshing twist like no other.

Jon Stevens

Jon Stevens

Jon Stevens will make his Music in Paradise debut

Jon Stevens is recognised as one of the most talented rock musicians to emerge from Australia in recent memory. He has had phenomenal success as a solo artist, and was also the lead singer of major rock acts Noiseworks, INXS and Dead Daisies.

Jon Stevens’ career has gone from strength-to-strength: a record-smashing debut at age 16 with two consecutive No. 1 singles in his New Zealand homeland. He also enjoyed huge hits in Australia as lead singer with Noiseworks. Stevens 21st-century liftoff to worldwide acclaim was at centre stage with INXS, and a song released by Dead Daisies which he co-wrote and produced with the legendary Slash on guitar. Ringo Starr plays the drums on the lonely ballad ‘One Way Street’ and ‘Something Bout You’ features the vocals of Vanessa Amorosi.

Hailing from New Zealand Stevens is now based in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia and travels all over the world touring his music. Jon Stevens is renowned as an exceptional live performer who brings a true passion and presence to his fans.

Australian rock band Noiseworks released ‘Heart & Soul’ on August 15th, 2022 as the lead single from their new studio album ‘Evolution’. The single album came as a long awaited gift to Noiseworks fans who had been thirsting for new music from the iconic rockers for 30 years.

“Coming back after 30 years with new music and seeing the level of excitement that we have had from our Noiseworks fans has been a really powerful experience for us. Heart & Soul shows where we are now while also giving a nod to the sounds that make us Noiseworks.”

Music in Paradise the concept debuted at Kandooma Resort in the Maldives in 2014. We have enjoyed dozens of extremely special MIP weeks at that majestic venue, and have plans to hold many more future events in the Maldives. We’ve also enjoyed multiple events at S-Resorts, Hidden Valley in Bali, Daydream Island resort in the Whitsundays and in 2024 we are holding our inaugural MIP event in the Snowy Mountains at Lake Crackenback Resort.

AUSTRALIAN MUSIC LEGENDS, 3 NIGHTS OF EPIC, EXCLUSIVE, INTIMATE MUSIC

Stranded In The Snowys In Summer, which celebrates 10 years of Music in Paradise is featuring an incredible line up of Australian music Icons – Jon Stevens, Ian Moss, Richard Clapton, The Black Sorrows, Mahalia Barnes and The Soul Mates, Brooke McClymont & Adam Eckersley and The Hip Replacements.

All acts are playing their own exclusive, intimate, extensive headline gigs on three separate evenings in the Snowy Mountains in summer. Don’t miss this brilliant mid-week opportunity to take in all 5 acts, plus one or two as yet unannounced special guests. Celebrate with friends, family or your partner in what will be a very special, intimate once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Ian Moss

Respected as one of Australia’s iconic musicians, Ian Moss delivers an unforgettable sound – not only as a telling soloist on guitar but especially with his silken voice, ringing with clarity and resonating with pure soul. While primarily recognised as an axeman of unusual tenacity and sweet melodic sensibility, Ian’s distinctive vocal is the essential signature of his soulful, bluesy muse – as it has been since his first tentative foray into music during the early 1970s.

Fate intervened when he answered an advertisement for a guitarist in a shop window in 1973, joining the band that was to become a legend in Australia – Cold Chisel. By 1980, with the release of the seminal East album, Cold Chisel was the biggest band in the country.

While the band’s Last Stand tour in December 1983 closed an important chapter in Ian Moss’s musical career, Cold Chisel remains one of Australia’s favourite bands long after its demise.

Enjoying the status of Australia’s best guitarist, Moss carefully evolved into a solo artist of the same calibre and commanding the same respect as Cold Chisel. After five years of patient nurturing, Moss released his debut single Tucker’s Daughter in January 1989, and caused an immediate sensation. The anthemic song – which Moss wrote in collaboration with Don Walker – sat in the Top 10 for 11 weeks and hit No 1 for two weeks, achieving gold sales status after 15 weeks and selling more than 73,000 copies. Moss’s second solo single, Telephone Booth, was released in June that year, hit the Top 10 and remained in the Top 20 for 10 weeks.

As Cold Chisel’s biographer Anthony O’Grady observed, “When Moss goes into guitar dream world he pulls out chords and notes and sounds that do not fit the plot as such, but which create new dimensions – astounding stuff that can never be reached through intellectual process, only through a quantum leap of intuition and imagination.”

The Black Sorrows

Any examination of The Black Sorrows comes down to one person, Joe Camilleri, the frontman and the brains behind the band. Recently awarded “living legend” status by Rolling Stone, Joe’s career spans an astonishing 50+ years. As a singer, songwriter, saxophonist and producer Joe Camilleri is considered one of the most genuinely talented figures in Australian music still at the top of his game.
Songs such as So Young, Hit And Run, Shape I’m In, Hold On To Me, Harley and Rose, Chained To The Wheel , Never Let Me Go and the Chosen Ones have become radio staples. As leader of two of Australia’s most successful bands, Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons and The Black Sorrows, Joe’s music has become part of Australian music culture. Joe was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame in 2007. Over the years other greats have admired Camilleri’s songwriting. Elvis Costello and John Denver are just two who have recorded cover versions of Joe’s music.

Camilleri launched The Black Sorrows, a loose band of like-minded musicians, in 1984 following the demise of his seminal band Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons the year before. From humble beginnings playing inner-city cafes around Melbourne and selling albums from the boot of a car, Camilleri transformed The Black Sorrows into one of the most sophisticated ensembles in the country. The independently released album Dear Children, represented a turning point once CBS/Sony stepped in with a world-wide deal. When radio picked up the classic track, Mystified, The Black Sorrows really took flight releasing multi-platinum sellers Hold On To Me, Harley & Rose and The Chosen Ones. The Black Sorrows have won the ARIA for Best Band, played sell-out shows across Europe and sold more than two million albums worldwide.

The Black Sorrows still average 150 shows a year and since 2014 have included Europe on their touring schedule. In keeping with Joe’s penchant for continually moving forward, the newest version of The Black Sorrows is a formidable one – Claude Carranza (guitar/vocals), Mark Gray (bass/vocals), James Black (keyboards/vocals) and Tony Floyd (drums).

Brooke McClymont & Adam Eckerlsey

The beginning of 2023 marked an incredible start for the Brooke and Adam as they took home three awards at the 2023 Toyota Golden Guitar Awards. In addition to winning Song of the Year for their hit ‘Star of the Show’ they were also recognized for Apple Music Single of the Year for ‘Memory Lane’ and Country Music Capital News Group or Duo of the Year. Closer to their hearts, their 10-year-old daughter Tiggy Heart Eckersley became the youngest person in history to be recognised with a Golden Guitar award, sharing the Song of the Year win with her parents and Dan Biederman as fellow songwriters. The recent release of this award-winning duo’s second album Up Down and Sideways has been enthusiastically received and debuted at #1 on the Australian ARIA all genre Album Chart. Last year, Brooke was voted as the runner-up on Network 10’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! and won the hearts of many when she performed an acoustic performance of ‘Star Of The Show’, which skyrocketed to #1 on the iTunes Single and Video Chart after the episode aired. Adam & Brooke went on to release ‘Memory Lane’ which became a Top 20 Country Radio airplay smash and has amassed over 1 million streams. The hugely successful Hang at the Wang events created by Brooke and Adam are another facet to this talented duo’s success. At these unique gatherings guests enjoy an intimate musical performance, the opportunity to experience their beautiful farm and amazing hospitality. Brooke McClymont is one third of top-selling, award-winning Australian country music trio The McClymonts. With over 200,000 album sales, 40 million streams, two ARIA Awards, fifteen Golden Guitar Awards, one CMA (USA) Award, one APRA Award and five #1 ARIA Country Albums, the McClymonts are a dominant female group in Australian country music with major success from hits such as ‘Kick It Up’, ‘Wrapped Up Good’ and ‘I’ve Got This’. Adam Eckersley has won five Golden Guitar Awards: the first in 2015 for New Talent of the Year; and then in 2016 in the Group or Duo of the Year category with The Adam Eckersley Band whose 2014 debut album, The First Album, debuted in the Top 5 on the ARIA Country Chart, with The Second Album debuting at #7 the following year. Adam has also been recognised for his songwriting, winning the APRA Award for Country Work of the Year (2015), and receiving an Honourable Mention in the International Songwriting Competition in 2014.
